THE THAMES PATH - Walk or Bicycle
When visiting the UK why not consider a walk or a cycle through the moving history of the River Thames from the source to the barrier or the barrier to the source?....or just choose your own favourite sections. I have walked from The Barrier to The London Eye...The Eye to Hampton Court...HC to Runnymede passing historical sites, splendid pubs (not all passed) and watching the variety of river traffic from skullers to barges...(the nomad)...next time I will cover the upper sections taking in a few more country pubs.

So much history......

NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS - Spectacular Countryside
Try this trip in the fall as I have just done and experience the wonderful villages, the moors and dales all the way to the North Sea coast to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Walk the footpaths or drive the narrow lanes and take a steam train trip through 'Heartbeat' country, visiting a pub or two and remember to stop for scones and tea at a local tea shop...(the nomad)

One visit is not enough......

FOREST OF BOWLAND - Pendle Witches
A visit to Barley and a walk up Pendle Hill deserves a pint of the Pride of Pendle at the Pendle Inn or the Barley Mow or maybe a cuppatea and scone at the local tea shop to learn about the Pendle Witches this Halloween. This is a lovely walk to the top where you can see over many counties and appreciate the beauty of the North of England.

A fine Witches brew.....

DENBIGHSHIRE - Loggerheads
Explore a wooded river valley and limestone cliffs offering views across to Moel Famau. Rare plants and ash-dominated woodland are interspersed with evidence from the once thriving lead mining industry.

This is North Wales....

SIR DDINBYCH - Parc Gwledig Loggerheads

INGLETON - Schenswurdigkeiten

INGLETON - Delights
Our village lies at the foot of Ingleborough - one of the famous "Three Peaks". Ingleton has all the necessary amenities, hotels and guest houses, camping and caravan sites, pubs, cafes and shops and also a heated open air swimming pool.
We are situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and within easy reach of the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and the Trough of Bowland. The famous Settle to Carlisle railway is just to the north of Ingleton.

Excellent area for Walking....

DRIVE THE UK - A great little car
I rented a small Renault Clio 1.5 diesel for my trip to England and Wales. This little car handled as well at high motorway speeds as it did on the narrow country lanes of the Dales and the Moors with either 2 or 4 adult passengers. Very comfortable for all and with a 600 mile range. Ideal for 2 adults and luggage for a week or two or three. UK driving IMO (the nomad) calls for 'aggressive but defensive' driving skills compared to most countries outside of Europe.

Or just be driven and escorted....

The Nomad has just spent a month touring England and Wales and by foot or foot-pedal has found many a fine pub with cask ales and traditional pub food as well as many a splendid tea shop with quality cream teas and other 'not to be missed' delicacies. These experiences have led us to start a program for identifying and listing TopTraditionalPubs of Britain as well as TopTeaShops of Britain. We want your nominations and recommendations and will soon be setting up this interactive feature at TopTravelSites.com.  Check out our Travel Blog
