COWBOY COUNTRY - COWBOY ETHICS!
April was spent RVing 5,500 miles through Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and in Cody, Wyo. I purchased a book 'Cowboy Ethics' or 'What Wall Street Can Learn from the Code of the West' .....Tell your Broker, Financial Advisor, Banker, Lawyer, Accountant, Corporate CEO et al, Your Boss, Politicians and the Teachers of your children about this book and suggest they buy a copy...PLEASE!
This should be essential/mandatory reading for ALL OF US!...It is, hopefully, not too late!.....The Nomad

The Code of the West for ALL......

WASHINGTON STATE - THE GREAT NORTH WEST!
A mountain, forest and coastal drive from teh Olympic Peninsular to Long Beach before crossing the Columbia River with great beaches and glorious seafood everywhere....returning 30 days later through Clarkston (Lewis & Clark), Leavenworth and back over the Cascades.

Coastal storm-watching in Winter too!

OREGON - THE COAST!
No matter how many times you drive the Oregon Coast, the spectacle is absolutely stunning at every turn with magnificent Pacific breakers, Great Rock Formations, Sand Dunes and of course the seafood. For aviation buffs try the superb Tillamook Air Museum (tillamookair.com) and see a rare 2 seater Spitfire!

Ride the Dunes or Fly a Kite!

CALIFORNIA - REDWOODS, SURF & TRAFFIC!
From teh serene North Coast, The Redwoods, The Wine Country and across the Golden Gate to Monterey and Carmel before Santa Barbara and Malibu and the chaos of getting around or through LA!.... to stay in Carlsbad (home of Tailor Made Golf) before reaching San Diego.

LA can spoil your drive!

ARIZONA - CANYONS, CACTUS, COLOURS!
Backroads from Carlsbad to Yuma....stopped at Dateland but only found edible dates and then found Ajo RV park enroute to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument (100's of RV's etc camped on teh desert with all of their desert toys!). On to Tucson but unable to find a tour to the Copper Canyon in Mexico so headed north and found the beautiful Desert Gardens RV park near Floence and St.Anthony's Monastery (Greek Orthodox)... A super drive north to Ganado and the amazing Monument Valley..

Monument Valley, Stagecoach & The Duke!

UTAH - FLAMING GORGE
Gouldings RV park in Monument Valley is a great place to stay and tour the Navajo Country. North to Flaming Gorge and a lucky break.....a snow storm forced me to stay at Dutch John RV park where I rigged up the fly rod whilst waiting for the wind to drop and fished the wonderful Green River....Visited the viewpoint for Red Canyon (a must do!)....The Drive just keeps on getting better and I am in Butch and Sundance country!

So much to see in this State...need more time!

WYOMING - BUFFALO BILL CODY & BUTCH & SUNDANCE!
Beaut. drive north to Rock Springs with great scenery and wild horses and then north to Thermopolis and Cody.
The BBHC is a wonderful place to spend a day before trying some of the best prime rib at the Irma Hotel or Roughcut Tavern - mouthwatering! Spend a few days in Cody and maybe stay at a Dude Ranch or drive some to the scenic highways - Chief Joseph Highway is one of the best. I was fortunate that the Yellowstone Hwy was 'not yet open' so I headed for the Grand Tetons - one of the greatest drives and views down from Togwattee Pass into the park and south to Jackson Hole. My first visit to the GT's but not my last...

Why oh Why did I ever leave Wyoming - stay awhile at a Dude Ranch!

IDAHO - NOT JUST SPUDS!
Leaving JH and crossing the Teton Pass into Teton Valley, Idaho is another grand drive - this valley has to be one of the prettiest around and seems to have been found by real estate companies. Hoped to get a flight in a glider but 'not yet open' for the season - again! North to Salmon and then to Rivers Fork for the night after another day of spectacular scenery. Briefly into Montana before heading back into Idaho over the Lolo Pass heading for Lewiston.

I am in awe of Lewis & Clark!

Early season travel of 'not open yet' signs was offset by the lonely roads adn RV sites and I am thinking of doing the reverse trip in the fall.
When I left I paid $2.48 per gal and at the same gas station 30 days later I paid $3.15!
If CORPORATE OIL continues their GREEDY AND GOUGING WAYS against the traveller - look out small town America and the thousands of small businesses that rely on short seasonal activity - our industry is suffering enough!  WI FI service - Good, Bad & Ugly
